The proof employs a brilliant reductio ad absurdum logic. We imagine a finite list of all known primes, multiply them together, and add one. This new number, P, creates a logical paradox: it is either a new prime, itself, or must be divisible by a prime not on our "complete" list. By showing that there is always another prime to be found, Euclid revealed the infinite nature of these mathematical building blocks.
